New Moon in Cancer:  Setting the Seed for Emotional Fulfillment

The New Moon in Cancer will be at 18 degrees and 1 minute so check your chart to see where this falls.   In the New Moon cycle we have the Moon and Sun together.   This brings our emotions and our hearts intelligence together.  This is our very private emotional world where we look at what makes us feel good about ourselves.

Tapping into your emotions, sense of security and intuition will help guide you on your new cycle.   This will require trusting in yourself to do what you need to do for emotional fulfillment.   You can see why it is important to see where this is happening in your chart.

T-Square aspect with Mars and Venus in Leo, Saturn retrograding in Aquarius with the apex being Uranus in Taurus.        The T-square aspect forming in these fixed signs suggest continuous effort to complete something that is important.  This also suggests it is time to let go of something that you are holding on to too tightly that no longer works for you.

Make time to take a break and do something different and new or just let the day unfold without any plan.   You may be surprised to what inspirations you have.   This is about nurturing yourself and with the Full Moon in Aquarius coming up near the end of the month relating to nurturing others, ask yourself  "What can I do to nurture yourself more?"

Something creative, being in nature more and even being a bit self-indulgent. If you feel some guilt with this I'm giving you permission so its ok!

New Moon in Cancer on the 9-10th July 2021 at 18°, 1 minutes

Hi, I’m Kerrie Hourigan and Thank you for tuning in.  In this podcast/video I’ll be covering the New Moon in Cancer on the 10th July at 18°, 1 minute here in Australia so make sure you check your location.

As I’m going through this podcast it’s a good idea to have your birth chart with transits handy.  For those of you who don’t have this,  I’ve created a video to show you how you can create a free natal chart with transits at www.astro.com.  and you can also get a FREE Mini Astrology Report that includes a very detailed natal chart from Astrology in You.   Just click on the links in the resources below.

The Moon

The Moon correlates to our inner world of emotions being the clearest guide to our emotional character.  It is the filter or lens to which we view our experiences and how we see ourselves inwardly not how others see us. To know how others see us we look to the sign on the 7th house of how we relate to others.   Our natal Moon placement reveals so much about ourselves in how we deal with our emotions and  sensitivities.  Intuition also plays a crucial role to our inner security getting our attention to be on alert or scanning our environment to gauge how safe we are feeling.

The Moon relates to our mother or most nurturing parent or guardian.  It reveals how we were nurtured or if we were not nurtured as youngsters symbolizing our early childhood environment.  If we suffered traumatic experiences as children displaced emotions are created bringing them into adulthood.

The Moon rules Cancer, an initiating sign and 4th house, the gateway to the second quarter on the astrological wheel.  Here the cycle reflects the beginning of a new maturation process requiring us to adapt to change.

Look to the 4th house on your birth chart to see what sign is on your 4th house.  The sign here will indicate your ability to adapt to change.   If you have a cardinal sign Aries, Cancer, Libra, or Capricorn you will initiate change. For fixed signs Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, or Aquarius change can be a challenge and not come easily and the mutable signs of Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, or Pisces will make adapting to change easier.

Knowing our Moon sign gives us insights into our vulnerabilities. It reveals how we find support within ourselves and how we manage our emotions.  It represents our inner child that is always learning, developing, needing protection and guidance that influences us.  As adults we often ignore our inner child that craves for kindness and love from us.  Hence we call on our internal mother for nurturing and understanding  in our times of distress and emotional upheaval.   If you are dealing with stressful thoughts causing suffering, look to the work of Byron Katie.  Katie has a process to deal with stressful thinking and end your suffering.  The link is in the resources below.

In our relationships knowing another’s moon sign is the path to better and harmonious relationships and interactions.

In essence knowing your natal Moon placement is the key to developing your own Inner Security. Our Inner Emotional Security can really only be found within, not in another, not in money, a job or anything in our external world.   When we put our inner security into things outside of us and they are taken away or leave in some form we go into a crisis and our world falls apart.  I cannot stress enough how important it is to have inner security first.

So it’s important to know as much as you can about your natal moon placement.

The SOUL and EGO

I wanted to mention the SOUL and the EGO and the power of Pluto and the Moon Most astrology isolate one thing such as New and Full Moons and this does not give you the whole picture.  I’m sure like me you may read of listen to astrology commentary and think “that doesn’t apply to me”. Here you can investigate yourself more and you will understand yourself so much better.

In Evolutionary Astrology we look at the Moon correlating to the EGO.  The EGO is created by the SOUL astrologically correlating to Pluto.   The SOUL observes life through the filter of our EGO (Moon) in our evolutionary journey.  Our SOUL represented by Pluto and its placement is what is familiar to us over lifetimes therefore it is our default position to where we feel safe.  The opposite position of Pluto known as the “Pluto Polarity Point” placement shows us the direction for our evolutionary path to take.

This is important to mention as in Evolutionary Astrology Pluto will tell you where you (house and sign) automatically where you will go for security.  Why?  Because in EA we engage the principal of reincarnation.   We have a succession of lives and the experiences from that prior life are brought into our current life.   This makes absolute sense and explains a lot about ourselves.  So check your natal chart to see your Pluto placement.  I will have some videos about Pluto, the Pluto generations and Pluto’s placement.   Of course this is an enormous topic that can’t be covered in this podcast but this is just a bit more information you can include.

The New Moon Begins the New Cycle:

There are eight phases of the Lunar Cycle, each at 45 degrees. The New Moon is not just the beginning of a new cycle but a new “evolutionary cycle”.  The New Moon phase is instinctual corresponding to the Aries archetype in the first 30 degrees.  Because of this, the energy moves out from the centre where unplanned, new and impulsive experiences will be initiated.   This outgoing energy requires freedom in order to initiate the new where frustrations even anger can be a result if restricted as there is a need for self-discovery.  The purpose of this energy is not to reflect but to get feedback through our actions and reactions.   This energy is most instinctual in the first 30 degrees where it tapers off as to a more stable state eliminating experiences that are not necessary to have a more focused approach.

The New Moon cycle is preceded by the Balsamic or Waning Crescent cycle where the previous cycle is ending.

Intention in the New Moon Cycle:

Intention is very important with a New Moon. With this being the beginning of a new cycle, check where this New Moon in Cancer is occurring in your chart, as mentioned before I’ve created a video to show you how to do this at Astro.com.

Setting an intention or seed is extremely powerful at the beginning of a new cycle. You can use the waxing or growing energy of the Moon to build upon bringing your intention to a culmination stage where it can be released in the Full Moon Phase which is approximately 6 months from now. As time goes by we listen to the feedback from others becoming more aware of our subjective awareness to find equilibrium stabilizing our emotions.

Cancer

When we look at the Cancer archetype, a cardinal Water sign that is ruled by the Moon.  In astrology our emotions are represented by water.  Water needs a container which is our bodies.  Our physical body and emotional body are one of the same and it is through our emotional body we evolve.  It is my understanding the “emotional body is the mind”.

Its ruling house, the 4th house is the gateway to the 2nd  quarter. Here we have a better sense of ourself relating to our personal values and our life meaning.   We can address more what we want out of life with our creativity, looking closer at the details in order to manifest our private goals.   We find our personal fulfilment as our personality and creativity develop with strong emotions to make our life meaningful.

Medically associated with:  stomach, mucosa, breasts, womb, ovaries

The initiating sign of Cancer requiring adaptability to change as mentioned earlier.

Our EGO and emotions are intertwined generating attachments to people (such as our family), things, ideas, and our past.  As we emotionally bond we become attached to particular things in turn giving more attention and care.  This is where we develop intimacy where we can let go of our defences, let down our walls and be more inclusive as we emotionally process our life experiences in a healthy way.

To see how you can best process your emotions look to your birth chart and find your natal Moon’s placement.

So, when we talk about the EGO (Moon) being the filter in how we see our life, if there has been a prior traumatic experience we will view the outside through that filter even though reality is different.  This is difficult as extreme traumatic experiences can damage us where we can distort reality and understandably so.  It is not until we examine the original experience and view it from the perspective of  supporting our evolution will keep us moving forward.

This can be extremely difficult and always best to consult a professional councillor or trusted friend as sometimes it can be too much for one to do on their own.

Cancer can get so caught up in emotions resulting in moodiness, acute sensitivity and touchiness.  Not coping with situations it will withdraw into its shell just like the crab. The Cancer archetype is extremely emotional and sensitive.    Emotional outbursts can be irrational as they come from an emotional perspective, so it is best to stay away, give them a wide birth allowing the emotional waves to settle down where communications can be reasonable and rational.

In saying that you will not have a more nurturing, caring, intuitive and compassionate person than a Cancerian.  They feel another’s pain and can sympathise and be a point of balance for another keeping emotionally connected and sensitive to another’s needs.

Cancerians have great tenacity and will protect those they care for like a warrior!  Known as the “mothers” of the zodiac we see the lengths mothers human and in the animal kingdom what they will do to protect their babies.

You cannot talk about Cancer without talking about its polar opposite Capricorn. Cancer can correlate to either the mother or father and same with Capricorn.  Cancer being the most nurturing parent and Capricorn with the role of authority (that can also be nurturing) reflecting responsibility, emotional maturity and discipline.

Cancer is our inner security (ruled by the Moon) and Capricorn is our outer security.

The idea is to find the balance between the two when we are too much in our emotions (Cancer) we look to the practical sign of Capricorn to remind us to act responsibly with mature emotions.

New Moon in Cancer

The New Moon in Cancer happening  on July 9th or 10th at 18°, 1 minute so look to see where this is happening in your chart and the area of life it relates to.

In the New Moon cycle we have the Moon and Sun together.   This brings our emotions and our hearts intelligence together.  This is our very private emotional world where we look at what makes us feel good about ourselves.

As we examine and scan our world, this is a time to set your intention on what you can do for yourself.  As Cancer rules the stomach, you may want to look at your diet, not just the food you ingest but your emotional and well-being diet.  This could include projects around the home, emotional connections with family, friends and you could include exercise.  This is about what makes you “feel” good.

Tapping into your emotions, sense of security and intuition will help guide you on your new cycle.   This will require trusting in yourself to do what you need to do for emotional fulfillment, so you can see why it is important to see where this is happening in your chart.

New Moon Making a Square to Chiron in Aries suggesting a perception of being in danger triggering defensive emotions.   Trine to Neptune in Pisces applying Retrograde indicating to go with your intuition and the flow suggesting trusting in yourself.

New Moon in opposition to Pluto in Capricorn helping to detach from power struggles especially from the outer world such as in the authority of governments.  Here is Australia in the Greater Sydney Area more police are being recruited checking people are adhering to the stricter rules that are being put into place around Sydney.   This is triggering the freedom found in Chiron in Aries.

The New Moon in a “disseminating phase” to Jupiter.  This phase represents the whole of society ruling laws and customs.   Conformity is the rule and this is especially applying to the Greater Sydney area of Australia as the current lockdown extended and enforced.  This will be a great struggle for many as they will feel torn between conforming to the outside while remaining true to themselves.  So if you are experiencing limitations in your life just go with it.

We have a T-Square aspect with Mars and Venus in Leo, Saturn retrograding in Aquarius with the apex being Uranus in Taurus.  The T-square aspect forming in these fixed signs suggest continuous effort to complete something that is important.  This also suggests it is time to let of something that you are holding on to tightly to that is no longer working for you.

Make time to take a break and do something different and new or just let the day unfold without any plan.   You may be surprised to what inspirations you have.   This is about nurturing yourself and with the Full Moon in Aquarius coming up near the end of the month relating to nurturing others.  What can you do to nurture yourself more. Something creative, being in nature more and even being a bit self-indulgent. If you feel some guilt with this I give you permission so its ok!

Wrap Up

It’s a time to connect with our SOUL, our SOUL is always kind to us.  It reveals our highest potential, we access our SOUL through Meditation.

Meditation with others is also powerful, as our world is going through a very stressful time on so many levels.   We can aim high and set our intentions collectively for a kinder world of equality, love, understanding, healthy planet, for the animals and the human family.

So keep dropping into your heart.   Explore and find your own truth, let go of what doesn’t work for you.  Laugh more, be in nature more, be more creative and most importantly show yourself love, kindness and know change always supporting our evolution on a collective and individual level.

Thank You for listening, I hope you visit again.

As Mr Spock says, “live long and prosper”, God Bless and bye for now!
